Clash-Free Isn’t Enough: Ensuring Constructability with a Model Roast

In this session, Dustin and Mike will guide you through how as VDC managers they can take the model review process beyond Clash Automation to ensure constructability is accounted for. While automated tools are highly effective at identifying and resolving clashes and issues, they can miss more of the harder to catch critical issues that affect project quality and viability—issues that can be uncovered simply by walking the model collaboratively in Revizto. Through team-based reviews involving VDC Managers, MEP experts, and Superintendents, the “model roast” focuses on identifying non-clash issues such as code violations, spec requirements, aesthetics, design errors, optimization opportunities, sequencing challenges, distinguishing features, and just good general constructability.

Attend this session to:

  • Learn how DPR’s “model roast” process uncovers and addresses constructability issues not caught by clash detection and how the process becomes a transferable skill set to MEP Managers, Supers, Quality, Safety, and Trade Teams.

Building with Precision: Geospatial Tools and Techniques for Modern Construction

Geospatial data encompasses information linked to specific locations on Earth. While a street address can direct you to a jobsite, it is insufficient for detailed planning of a construction project. With the growing availability of geospatial software, precise layout equipment, and the increasing popularity of drones, it has become easier for non-land surveyors to interpret geospatial data for their projects. In this session, Carlos will provide an overview of the methods used to analyze, visualize, and utilize 2D and 3D information during the preconstruction and construction phases. Specifically, he will make an introduction to map projections, demonstrate how to leverage the GPS embedded in modern smartphones and tablets, explain the use of GNSS RTK layout equipment for field quality control, and how to leverage drone data for aerial quality control using AutoCAD.

Attend this session to:

  • Explore the various types of geospatial data commonly used in the construction industry.
  • Understand the various levels of accuracy available from layout equipment.

The Journey to Effective Clash Detection for Designers

Dive into why EXP made the pivotal decision to adopt Revizto as their primary clash detection tool and how it transformed their coordination process. You’ll gain insights into the challenges of traditional clash detection, the impact of Revizto’s Clash Automation feature, and how this shift empowers design teams to manage their own clashes. We’ll also explore why clash detection is essential for designers and when it works best based on project needs. Additionally, you will discover how this approach emphasizes the role of schedulers and improves buy-in across disciplines.

Attend this session to:

  • Organize a set of clash tests to generate relevant clashes only to design teams.
  • Manage clash results complexity without grouping and use issues to communicate clash results.
  • Improve buy-in across disciplines.
