Integrating Field Teams with VDC Efforts using Revizto
Why we chose Revizto
The way that we were handling BIM Coordination was not as efficient as it could be. There was too much time spent on weekly physical coordination meetings. When we discovered Revizto and that it could be accessed at any time, online or offline, and offered real-time communication, it was an obvious choice to use Revizto.
How we use Revizto
Currently, the most used functionality of Revizto has to be the Issue Tracker. The ability for our field team to be able to open the Issue Tracker function, filter down the open issues to the high priority, and track down the “changing of hands” throughout the life of the project is a valuable tool. Since Revizto is user-friendly, we were able to get our field team up to speed on Revizto’s functions over the course of a few hours, with occasional phone calls or emails asking for clarification on how to do something.
The Issue Tracker function is the most demanded aspect in Revizto, but a major selling point to some of our more experienced personnel was the ability to pull up the plans in 2D while in the Revizto App.
Revizto in our Workflow
Before Revizto, we used Viewpoints in Navisworks for clash tracking and would also use Navisworks during the meetings to discuss each clash individually. Now, with Revizto, we’re able to simply sync clash tests from Naviswork immediately, enabling us to eliminate hours of work and repetitive tasks. Additionally, we’ve been able to drastically reduce both the number of meetings required, as well as the length of those meetings, allowing our team to focus on other productive tasks.
Clash Problem Solving
Revizto solves the problems associated with clashes, but Revizto is most helpful in resolving the issue of scheduling. One of the more noticeable problems in coordination is being able to select a time and date for everyone involved in the project to meet. With Revizto we no longer have to worry about scheduling, since the whole project is available and up-to-date 24/7.
“Without a doubt, there is a quantifiable ROI using Revizto. The BIM Coordination process itself is meant to save time and money on construction projects. With Revizto the process is not only shorter, but more clear to those that are involved. This has improved our VDC departments efficiency.”
To sum up…
- Revizto has helped tie everyone together and hold appropriate parties responsible for their issues.
- Revizto has also helped our field team in understanding what VDC is and how it benefits the project.
- Revizto has allowed our VDC team to spend more time analyzing the models and taking on new projects.
- Revizto has also increased our field teams’ interests in VDC as they better understand the benefits of the process. This results in better planning, fewer delays, more profit, and better relationships with owners as more job sites seek out and incorporate this technology.
