Revizto Unplugged Recap: Sydney 2025 – Shaping the Future Together

At the Sydney Opera House, Revizto hosted its annual user forum, Unplugged, bringing together some of its most technical and engaged users for an in-depth look at the industry’s direction and the technology shaping it.

The half-day forum connected Revizto’s customer success team, along with users chosen for their deep platform expertise. Through a mix of industry presentations, a glimpse into the Revizto product roadmap, and small-group roundtables, participants collaborated directly with the team building the tools they use every day, providing insights on what works, what could be improved, and how the platform can better support real-world projects.

The Times They Are A-Changin’

David Foley, Manager Director at IIMBE, opened the event with a keynote titled “The Times They Are A-Changin’.” Borrowing inspiration from Bob Dylan’s 1964 anthem, Foley used the song’s message of change to explore how far construction has come – and how much further it can go.

Having worked on the Sydney Opera House’s own digital transformation, Foley drew a powerful parallel between the building’s original construction in the 1960s and the digital projects of today. He contrasted the hand-drawn plans and analog processes of the past with the data-rich, model-based workflows now common across major projects.

Technology has given us amazing tools, but if you look at the productivity of our industry, it hasn’t really improved in decades. The problem isn’t the technology itself – it’s how we work together. Until we change the way we collaborate and make decisions, we’re just layering tools on top of the same old processes.

Foley noted that despite the industry’s rapid technological progress, productivity gains have not kept pace. The challenge, he argued, lies less in adopting new platforms and more in the willingness to share information and work differently. His keynote set a reflective and grounded tone for the day, one focused on people, process, and progress.

Building a Platform for Collaboration

Following the keynote, Jason Howden, Revizto’s Chief Innovation Officer, shared updates from the Revizto 5.17 release and offered a preview of Revizto 6.0, currently in development.

Howden’s session centred on how Revizto is evolving to better support multidisciplinary project teams. Updates to 2D workflows, automation, and infrastructure capabilities are all designed to reduce friction and make data easier to access across the full project lifecycle.

Our goal is to remove friction between teams. When everyone is working in the same environment – looking at the same model, the same data – they can spend less time managing information and more time solving real problems.

Howden also spoke about Revizto’s approach to product development – one that relies heavily on user input. Attendees were encouraged to provide feedback directly, ensuring that future releases continue to reflect the realities of those working on complex projects every day.

A Forum for Change

After the presentations, attendees broke into small groups to explore specific features, workflows, and ideas for improvements. These sessions gave Revizto’s team direct insight into what would make users’ day-to-day work easier and more productive.

The forum was structured to encourage active discussion and idea-sharing. Participants, all technical experts with deep platform knowledge, provided practical feedback that will shape future iterations of Revizto. This approach reflects Revizto’s commitment to collaboration – building the platform alongside the people who use it every day.
