BIM is about collaboration and Revizto helps with that.
Landing at Copenhagen Airport is an excellent introduction to NIRAS and what they do, passing the offshore wind farm in the Oresund, the Metro station at the airport or driving into town skirting Amager Beach Park. NIRAS has played an integral part in all of these projects. By continuing the sightseeing tour through the rest of Denmark, to Sweden and Norway, you would encounter numerous other buildings and technical facilities to which NIRAS can proudly say “We contributed”.
At Niras, they are always on the lookout for innovative solutions to increase the efficiency of their building processes. As BIM projects become more complex and now involve many participants from various disciplines, one challenge NIRAS’ BIM team has faced is the lack of timely communication and collaboration during projects. That is where Revizto came into play - an Integrated Collaboration Platform to help them take their BIM projects to the next level and enhance team collaboration.
Salman Pey, Head of BIM at NIRAS, has been a pleasure to work with as Niras adopted and implement Revizto across their offices. We’re proud and excited to see the continued growth and the significant impact Revizto is having on all involved.
Why Revizto?
When NIRAS’ BIM team started to investigate what tools could help them better leverage BIM coordination of their projects, two requirements were very clear – the ease of use and transparency of the platform. Additionally “the model must be available to all project members in a single platform that can handle communication across different disciplines. Revizto responses to all these criteria, and is very simple in use” Salman explains.
“We have established a standard process and workflow at NIRAS and have established a team to take care of the implementation. All projects start with the same method and all project members must be trained on how to use Revizto before the project starts. This has made it possible for us to successfully implement Revizto in the shortest time. Our employees love it!” says Salman.
Talking about the functionalities and advantages of Revizto, Salman stated “the combination of 2D and 3D functionality is really amazing. Another Revizto advantage is the ability to track and communicate 3D issues in real-time from any location and on any device. This functionality has proved to be especially beneficial for us. Visualizing and analyzing the projects for others not only enhances communication but facilitates critical coordination that prevents costly rework”
Issue Tracker: Better Communication, Less Information Lost
By using Revizto’s Issue Tracker, NIRAS’ has seen a significant reduction in errors and information loss, as well as a noticeable improvement in team collaboration and project delivery efficiency.
They have been utilizing the Revizto Issue Tracker in a traditional way. Many project team members have access to the centralized model with the ability to view and communicate the project’s progress.
“All team members send sketches, drawings, and scans in the form of PDFs to each other while communicating issues or design input. There is a high risk of information loss, and it is difficult to handle issues for those who create them, especially as the amount of information and issues grow over time. We use Revizto’s powerful Issue Tracker for internal and external issues management. It helps us to get a better overview and allows us to follow up on issues and finally, we have a direct link to Revit. With Revizto we can better control the communication process, get a better overview and eliminate information loss.” comments Salman.
Simply the best!
“Right now we are collaborating mostly with architects on our Revizto projects. We plan to involve more stakeholders including contractors and clients, on our next projects, because BIM for us is all about collaboration and Revizto can perfectly help us with that”, continues Salman.
“We have already used Revizto on seven major projects, including our largest one – children’s hospital located in Copenhagen. So far, Revizto has been very useful for our team and projects, and it’s certainly something that will use on all future projects. We have about 50 team members using Revizto from different disciplines, and I have only one thing to say: Simply the best!”
