Embracing New Tools for Next-Level Projects
ADCO, one of Australia's premier construction companies, has an impressive portfolio of nearly 4,000 completed buildings, with projects ranging from early work packages to sprawling $300+ million ventures. As a leader in the industry, ADCO consistently seeks out innovative solutions to enhance its project outcomes. Like many companies, ADCO faced challenges in the digital age. Stepping up to guide them through was Ben Yee, their Design and BIM Manager.
The tools we use shape our progress. Despite the numerous software available - Revizto is more user friendly than any other software capable of clash detection, drawing reviews, and tracking issues.
The Hurdles Ahead
Despite ADCO's success, the company faced some clear challenges:
Access Issues
On-site teams had trouble getting to the 3D models they needed.
Training Needs
Not everyone was familiar with the new industry tools.
Consistency
They lacked a standard approach to BIM.
Outside Help
They often leaned on external consultants for essential tasks.
Improving Processes
The team felt the need to enhance drawing reviews.
Implementing Revizto
Stemming from an initiative out of the ADCO Leaders Program, ADCO's usage of Revizto began on projects valued between $20 to $60 million. The positive results paved the way for its use in bigger projects, such as the Griffith Base Hospital Redevelopment—a $250 million project located in the Murrumbidgee region of NSW, Australia.
All major health services at the Griffith Base Hospital will be housed under one roof, in the purpose-built three storey Clinical Services Building designed to support contemporary models of care. Operating round-the-clock, the hospital features a 24-hour Emergency Department and delivers specialised services from paediatrics to oncology. For accurate diagnoses, the hospital is well-equipped with a cutting-edge medical imaging department.
ADCO and Revizto Working Together
Introducing Revizto into ADCO's daily operations made a big difference:
With Revizto, ADCO didn't just get software; we got a way to work better. It isn't just another tool for us; it's a game-changer.
Seeing Real Benefits
For ADCO, Revizto was more than just a software addition – it offered real advantages. Drawing reviews improved, potential issues were spotted early, safety meetings were streamlined, and costly errors were reduced.
In one instance illustrating the tangible ROI with Revizto, ADCO experienced the platform's capabilities firsthand. During the construction phase, Revizto's clash detection feature enabled the early detection of a potential clash between a metal stud and a mechanical duct. By catching this discrepancy ahead of time, ADCO was able to circumvent any expensive and time-consuming rework.
Looking Back
With Revizto on board, ADCO didn't just add another software to their toolkit; they made a significant shift in how they work, showcasing their ability to adapt and aim for continuous improvement.
Ben’s final remark encompassed his journey with Revizto. He shared that Revizto enables disciplines of all levels of expertise to work collaboratively, in a user-friendly environment, ensuring seamless integration and cooperation among teams. It provides the site and delivery teams with direct access to BIM and promotes accountability regarding issues offering visibility and transparency through its dashboard reporting.
