Introducing Issue Workflow Automation in Revizto Workspace: A Guide to Smarter Issue Management

Revizto’s new Issue Workflow Automation feature in the Workspace web application empowers teams to automate issue workflow management with ease and precision. With Issue Workflow Automation, you can create custom workflows that automatically update issue fields based on specific triggers and conditions, which helps projects run smoother with less manual oversight.
What Is Revizto Workspace?
Revizto Workspace is the browser-accessible part of the Revizto platform, offering standalone functionality that expands the capabilities of the core product — without requiring the desktop application.
Key features of Revizto Workspace:
- Access and manage issues, workflows, automations, and notifications
- Set up and monitor Workspace Automations for Issues
- Access project and license settings
- Manage user roles, permissions, and notifications
- View project-level summaries and interact with project data outside the 2D/3D model environment
It’s designed for lightweight, administrative, and coordination tasks, enabling faster access, especially for managers or stakeholders who don’t need the full model viewer.
What Is Issue Workflow Automation?
Previously, users had to manually create workflows for issues. This new functionality introduces the ability to create automated workflows that are triggered when specific conditions are met. This can include changes to assignees, priorities, statuses, tags, and more. These workflows are built using modular blocks, providing flexibility in setting up workflows.
Issue Workflow Automation is visual construction sequencing and supports QA (quality assurance) processes. Previously, when an issue was marked as solved, the assignee remained unchanged. Now, with workflow automations, you can configure it so the issue is reassigned to the creator upon resolution, improving accountability.
Key Benefits:
Workflow Automation reduces noise, saves considerable time, and frees up your team to focus on meaningful coordination — not data entry.
It turns manual admin tasks into a hands-free process. Instead of managing issues one by one, you can route, tag, escalate, and assign them instantly based on rules you define.
Here’s how issue workflow automation helps each team member stay focused and informed:
- Assignees / Team Members:
They no longer get flooded with irrelevant issues or updates. Automation ensures only the right people are notified or assigned based on filters (like discipline, location, type), reducing distraction and improving focus. - VDC Managers / Coordinators:
They save hours of manual triage and follow-up. Automation ensures issues get routed, tagged, and escalated without needing constant oversight — improving coordination without micromanagement. - Field Teams:
They receive only critical, actionable issues tied to their scope and area, avoiding unnecessary back-and-forth or status checks. - Project Managers / Superintendents:
Automation ensures workflows stay on track and nothing falls through the cracks, freeing them from chasing updates or reminders.
Real-World Examples of Issue Automation
Preconstruction Design Review & Coordination
By combining Issue Automation with Clash Automation and Revizto’s Scheduler, teams can automatically facilitate preconstruction design reviews and coordination analysis. Identified issues are automatically sent to the appropriate project collaborators for resolution. As these issues move from initial identification in Clash Automation through design review, modeling, and ultimately resubmittal of both the model and technical drawings, Issue Automation rules track priority, status, assignee, and watchers, ensuring the next responsible collaborator is kept informed throughout the process.
Health & Safety Monitoring
As health and safety issues are identified on site, Issue Tags are actively monitored for any that correspond to a defined H&S alert level. Based on the severity of the alert level, Revizto’s Issue Automation is triggered and automatically forwards the issue to the project’s Health & Safety Officer for review and action. This ensures that H&S issues are not missed and helps prevent them from escalating to a point where a person’s health and wellbeing could be at risk.
Construction Scheduling
When using Revizto’s Issue Tracker to monitor and manage the installation of building components, Issue Automation can track which levels issues are being reported on. If issues begin appearing on levels not yet scheduled for construction activities, an event is triggered to notify the Site Superintendent to review and take action. This helps prevent abortive work and reduces the risk of project delays or cost overruns due to unscheduled construction activities.
How Issue Workflow Automation Delivers Real Value
Issue Automation isn’t just for one role. Whether you’re a Designer, VDC Manager, Project Manager, Site Superintendent, or Owner, automation helps ensure that important issues are surfaced based on predefined criteria — eliminating the need to search for them manually or risk letting critical issues slip through the cracks and cause delays or rework.
For VDC and BIM managers, automation acts like a pair of virtual hands and eyes, continuously reviewing new issues, checking them against rules, and automatically routing them to the right collaborator at the right time. It doesn’t replace the VDC/BIM manager — it amplifies them, freeing them up to focus on high-value tasks while automation handles the routine filtering and routing.
For Project Managers, Design Teams, Contractors, and Owners, automation delivers instant visibility and confidence that issues are being actively tracked and resolved across a complex supply chain. It strengthens Revizto’s automation ecosystem by adding a layer of real-time communication — helping teams stay aligned, avoid miscommunication, and reduce costly rework or delays.
