This creates a solution that is rather difficult to get into, with the sheer number of features and capabilities regularly overwhelming newcomers.
TurboCAD
TurboCAD is one of the best solutions for people with little to no experience with architectural apps for PC. It is a reasonably-priced CAD software that can work in 2D (drafting) and 3D (modeling), supports numerous CAD file formats, and is compatible with 3D printing. TurboCAD has plenty of accessibility options, but it may not be as feature-rich as some of the more prominent players on the market. For example, it lacks the ability to execute command-line operations, a standard feature for upper-echelon CAD solutions. At the same time, TurboCAD’s UI as a whole is considered outdated, its licensing model can be very confusing, and the rendering process takes a lot of time to succeed. Civil engineering is the main target market of Civil 3D, another example of CAD-adjacent software from Autodesk that focuses on a specific niche. Some of the most common use cases of Civil 3D include creating various infrastructure elements such as roads, construction sites, and much more. It also has its own rendering engine that is surprisingly good by the standards of this market. At the same time, Civil 3D is an Autodesk product with all the shortcomings that come with that, including a significant price tag, a lot of demand for high-end hardware, and the inevitable lag when working with large-scale projects.
FreeCAD
FreeCAD is one of the few solutions on this list that is both completely free and open-source. It is 3D modeling and architecture software that may have fewer capabilities than its counterparts, but its price more than makes up for it.
