Saving time, resources, and keeping everything organized

Clancy & Theys is ranked among the Top 100 CM-at-Risk providers in the US. It is also one of the nation’s Top 100 Green Contractors and a leading philanthropic company in the domestic market.

Revizto saves invaluable time otherwise spent unearthing issues stemming from poor communication and multiple tool usage.

Clancy & Theys Construction Company is ranked among the Top 100 CM-at-Risk providers in the US. The company is also one of the nation’s Top 100 Green Contractors and a leading philanthropic company in the domestic market.

Revizto is utilized throughout the BIM coordination process at Clancy & Theys. They leverage the platform in their work across market sectors and geographic regions. One of the company’s successes with the Revizto platform was on a high profile 19 story office building in downtown Raleigh, North Carolina.

Revizto has been enormously helpful in coordinating the project's mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems. We are also using it as a visualization tool to enable field staff to understand the building as we put the work in place.

Challenges

  • No good way to document issues during coordination meetings with MEP contractors.
  • Lack of a quick option for identifying to-do items.
  • Difficulties in integrating reality-captured data with 3D models.

Solutions

  • Issue Tracker streamlines documentation and management during coordination with MEP contractors.
  • Integrated mark-up tools allow for rapid highlighting and categorizing of to-do items.
  • Model synchronization merges reality-captured data with 3D models for a unified view

According to Harry McKinney, VP of Technology & Innovation at Clancy & Theys, Revizto has delivered speedy and efficient solutions that have enabled his team to identify and organize issues, as well as provide tools they can use to assign and follow-up on tasks.

Full Map to Model Integration

Projects in and around the Raleigh-Durham area are very urban-
specific, and the context around the site is quite important. Drone photogrammetry is used to map the surrounding areas. Kyle Snyder, Construction Technology Manager at Clancy & Theys, stated that Revizto allowed his team to fully integrate the reality-captured data with the 3-D modelling data. Dealing with existing power lines was a big issue, but not anymore.

Another important aspect of Revizto that Kyle mentioned is the cloud share option. When it is updated, information is shared to the field. Being able to oversee the coordination process and then push it out tothe field in real-time has helped his team immensely.

Key Features Leveraged by Clancy & Theys

Viewing models

Revizto has significantly improved Clancy & Theys’ ability to view the 2D construction drawings with the 3D model by providing in-depth context. Being able to visualize everything in one environment makes the process much more efficient.

Ease of use

According to Kyle, the impact that Revizto has on some people who are not familiar with BIM, or don’t use it on a day-to-day basis, is that it makes it really easy for them to access the model. This means that they, as coordinators, can handle the important project aspects without unnecessary distractions.

Savings

Kyle firmly believes that Revizto greatly boosts coordination and decreases the amount of time spent in meetings. Integrating 2D drawings with some of their reality capture data in a single, common environment reduces the time that would otherwise be spent flipping between multiple software programs.

One model for everything

Last but not least, another major impact Kyle has noticed with Revizto is the ability to share it throughout the company. They no longer have to use all those different FTP systems to share the model and load it into another program similar to a READ-ONLY model.

Revizto has been utilized extensively throughout the company. Everyone
is used to the gestures involved and navigating the model. Compared to
other software, it’s very easy to use. It’s a living, breathing model that is straightforward to open and access, and it genuinely speeds up the process
of sharing that data back and forth.
